Maryum has worked in social services in the area of youth development, juvenile delinquency prevention and gang prevention. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with hundreds families, providing critical support and guidance in communities disproportionately impacted by violence, systemic inequities, and limited access to resources.

Maryum has held key leadership roles, including serving as Director of gang prevention programs and as a Regional Manager for the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Gang Reduction & Youth Development. In these positions, she has overseen the implementation of evidence-based programs, fostered cross-sector collaborations, and helped shape policies that promote safety, empowerment, and long-term success for underserved youth.

Drawing from her deep well of professional experience and personal insight, Maryum speaks candidly about the complexities and rewards of working in high-need communities. She shares compelling stories that highlight both the challenges and triumphs of this work, while offering best practices for building authentic, collaborative relationships with clients.
